Charles Leclerc has emerged victorious at the Austrian GP finishing 1st ahead of championship rival Max Verstappen who finished second. Third place was taken by Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton who has achieved 3 successive podiums in the last 3 races. Yesterday’s sprint race winner Verstappen who lined up as pole-sitter for the race lost the lead to the Ferrari man Leclerc.
Carlos Sainz who had a brilliant race going on faced issues related to the engine of the car. Sainz was chasing Verstappen but eventually, his car broke up and the rear end of his Ferrari was on fire. Eventually, the British GP winner had to retire.
Mercedes driver George Russell finished 4th after a wonderful drive from him. Alpine star Esteban Ocon takes 5th place. Both Haas drivers finish in the top 10 in the race which is a double-point finish for Haas. Mick Schumacher who came home in 6th place was voted as the Driver of the Day.
Mclaren duo Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo both finish on points. Norris finished 7th while Daniel took 9th place. Sergio Perez of Redbull had to retire at the very first lap of the race due to contact with George Russell while tussling for the lead. The Austrian GP was a very fun-filled race.
Ferrari has won two races consecutively now. Carlos Sainz won the British GP while Charles Leclerc won today’s Austrian GP. This is surely an issue for Red Bull as these victories may become costly in the future. With Mercedes also back in good form, this season is one to watch out for.
