Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes, has praised the significant impact that Mick Schumacher has made in his role as the team’s reserve driver. Wolff highlighted the invaluable work Schumacher has done in the simulator, particularly during European grands prix weekends, which has provided the team with a considerable advantage.
The 24-year-old’s feedback and data have helped unlock more pace in the W14, resulting in a double podium finish at the Spanish Grand Prix. Wolff further emphasized that if either George Russell or Lewis Hamilton were unable to compete, he would have no hesitation in having Schumacher step up to cover for them.
While Wolff appreciates the current situation for the team’s benefit, he expressed his preference for seeing Schumacher behind the wheel, actively racing. The mature and experienced Formula 1 driver’s support has proven to be a valuable asset to the Mercedes team.
