Max Verstappen has been taken to the medical centre following his crash during Q1 of qualifying at the Australian Grand Prix.

The incident occurred early in the session at the Albert Park Circuit, when the Red Bull driver lost control of his car and hit the barriers, triggering a red flag that temporarily halted qualifying.

After exiting the car, Verstappen appeared to show signs of discomfort in his hands, prompting race officials to send him to the circuit’s medical centre for precautionary checks.

While the four-time world champion was able to get out of the car on his own, medical evaluations are standard procedure following heavy impacts during Formula One sessions.

The crash proved costly for the Red Bull Racing driver, who was eliminated in Q1 and will start near the back of the grid for Sunday’s race in Melbourne.

Further updates on Verstappen’s condition are expected after medical checks are completed.
