Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their hunt for defensive reinforcements, with fresh rumours suggesting the club is planning a double centre-back signing in the upcoming transfer window.
According to reports circulating in European media, the Spanish giants intend to bring in two central defenders, with at least one left-footed option considered a top priority. The move comes as Madrid look to future-proof their backline and maintain their dominance both domestically and in the UEFA Champions League.
One name believed to be high on their shortlist is Nico Schlotterbeck, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. The German international is said to fit Madrid’s desired profile perfectly, young, physically strong, tactically aware, and comfortable building play from the back. His left-footed ability is viewed as a key asset, something Alvaro Arbeloa’s system has lacked in recent seasons.
However, it is important to stress that this remains a rumour at this stage. No official talks have been confirmed, and there has been no public indication of a formal bid from Madrid. Dortmund are also expected to demand a significant transfer fee for one of their most important defenders, which could complicate any potential negotiations.
