Robert Lewandowski’s time at FC Barcelona is officially coming to an end. As per journalist Guillem Balague, the Polish striker will depart Camp Nou this summer when his contract expires — bringing the curtain down on a four-year chapter that yielded over 110 goals for the Blaugrana.

Saudi Arabia or MLS — Where Will He Go?

Reports from Poland and Spain align: a top Saudi Pro League club reportedly tabled an offer worth around €100 million per season — an offer Lewandowski deferred last summer to honour his Barcelona contract. With that contract now expiring, the deal is said to remain firmly on the table, with the Professional Infrastructure Fund (PIF) allowing the striker to choose his preferred destination within the league.

MLS interest is also genuine. Chicago Fire FC are among the clubs mentioned as suitors in the United States, where Lewandowski’s global brand would carry enormous commercial weight.

How Does This Affect Barcelona’s Summer Plans?

Losing Lewandowski leaves Barcelona in immediate need of a world-class No.9. The club has already identified Julián Álvarez as a top transfer target, and a sale of Ferran Torres is reportedly being considered to raise funds. Names such as Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak have also been linked with Camp Nou, though neither deal has progressed significantly.

Manager Hansi Flick has relied on Lewandowski as a central piece of his system, and beyond the goals, the veteran’s leadership in the dressing room — particularly his influence on young La Masia graduates like Lamine Yamal — will be equally difficult to replace.
