Manchester United midfielder Casemiro continues to receive praise from fans and teammates despite growing reports that he could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Young midfielder Toby Collyer has now opened up on the huge role the Brazilian played in his development at the club. The academy graduate admitted Casemiro helped him even during difficult moments earlier in the campaign.
Speaking about his relationship with the veteran midfielder, Collyer said Ruben Amorim initially preferred him in midfield ahead of Casemiro. However, he revealed the former Real Madrid star remained supportive throughout.
Collyer explained that Casemiro continued helping him in training sessions and regularly spoke with him despite competition for places in the starting XI. The youngster also praised the Brazilian’s leadership and mentality inside the dressing room.
The mood among supporters has changed in recent months. After several strong performances, many fans have urged the club to keep him for another season. Chants of “one more year” have already been heard from sections of the Old Trafford crowd.
The Brazilian endured criticism earlier in the season after inconsistent displays, but his recent form and leadership have reminded supporters why he was once considered one of the best defensive midfielders in world football.
