Fabrizio Romano has revealed fresh details about Manchester United’s summer transfer strategy, with the club set to allocate £140 million to rebuild their midfield.

According to the update, United have divided the budget into three key targets. Around £80 million has been reserved for a marquee signing to replace Casemiro. The Brazilian’s long term future remains uncertain, and the club want a younger and more dynamic presence in that role.

A further £40 million is expected to be used on a midfielder to replace Manuel Ugarte. The focus here is on energy, ball recovery, and consistency in pressing. United are believed to be prioritizing players who can fit into a high intensity system.

The remaining £20 million will go towards a third midfield addition. This signing is likely to provide squad depth and tactical flexibility, rather than being an immediate starter.

The plan reflects a structured rebuild rather than a single headline move. United’s recruitment team is working on profiles that suit a modern midfield setup. Control, mobility, and discipline are key traits being targeted.
