Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has responded to Cole Palmer’s candid comments linking his long-term future at the club to Champions League qualification.

The 23-year-old England international spoke to TNT Sports ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Manchester United. Palmer expressed belief in the project but delivered a clear message: “Hopefully [I can achieve my ambitions at Chelsea]. I believe in the club, they spoke to us as players. Hopefully I, and we, can win a lot at Chelsea. If we’re not in the UCL, everything changes. We need to finish in the Champions League.”

When asked post-match about Palmer’s remarks and any potential implications for the star attacker’s future, Rosenior kept his answer measured and forward-focused.

“The honest answer is I don’t know. We’re still fighting and we will address that situation at the end of the season, whatever the situation is,” said Rosenior.

Chelsea remain in the hunt for a top-five finish in the 2025-26 Premier League as the campaign enters its decisive phase. A strong run of results is required to secure Champions League football for next season.

Palmer has been a standout performer for the Blues this term. Rosenior’s response deliberately sidelines speculation, emphasising collective focus on remaining fixtures rather than summer transfer talk. Palmer’s contract runs until 2033, but his emphasis on UCL football has intensified discussion around the club’s European ambitions.

No decisions on Palmer’s future are expected until the season concludes. Both player and manager have stressed that any conversations will wait until the final whistle on 2025-26.
