Yuvraj Singh: I see Rishabh Pant as a potential Indian captain in the future

Indian young wicketkeeper-batsman has managed to secure his place in the Indian team as a playing 11 regulars, be it with the bat or while wicket-keeping. A few years ago due to his poor performance, he used to be criticised for his wicketkeeping skills, but the team management supported and trusted him. With this support, he managed to turn himself into a match-winner.

Before, he used to be criticised for throwing away his wickets by playing rash shots. But after his brilliant performance in the Test series against Australia and England, he has touched a lot of hearts and is impossible to stay out of the team. With epic 89* runs at Gabba leading India to a historic win, he has become the first choice wicketkeeper-batsman in the Test team.

Looking at his brilliance, former Indian allrounder and the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup player of the tournament Yuvraj Singh feels Pant has proved himself as a match-winner and agrees that Pant has improved and grown himself.

In an exclusive interview with Timesofindia.com (TOI), he said, “I am very glad, that you are saying he is very mature and he is a find for India because I felt he got a lot of criticism after the ways he got out. I totally agree with you, Rishabh Pant has proven that he is a match-winner. in tough conditions like Australia, the way he batted and the way he got a brilliant hundred against England as well. He is probably a key player in the middle order.”

He further added, “I also see Rishabh pant as a potential Indian captain in the future. Because he is jumpy, chirpy, and talks around. So, people should look at him as the next captain of the Indian team in the coming years.”
