S Sreesanth is all set to make his comeback in professional cricket after his seven year ban ended earlier this year in September. He will be featuring in Kerala’s President T20 cup. The Kerala born speedster was all set to make his comeback in the domestic leagues for Kerala but the COVID-19 pandemic came in his way of comeback at professional cricket. He was expecting to play for Kerala in the 2020/21 season but the BCCI has announced that they might begin domestic cricket from January 2021.
Kerala Cricket Association made into the long lists of states for having a state level tournament for their players. This tournament will be played in Alappuzha, while all the player who are going to feature in this tournament including Sreesanth will be quarantined in a hotel before the tournament begins.
The KCA President commented on this and agreed that Sreesanth will be a star attraction and everyone will be eager to see him make a strong comeback. The president also added in his statement that everything now relies on the state government of Kerala to give a clearance for playing this tournament.
Sreesanth was banned back in 2013 for allegedly fixing IPL matches. He was sentenced life ban from cricket, but he challenged this decision in the court and got the ban reduced to 7 years. He eyes to make comeback in the Indian team but his chances are too thin. He can hope that the KCA selects him if he performs well in this tournament and hopefully even get lucky enough if any team bids for him in the upcoming edition of IPL.
Sreesanth has played and was the part of the winning Indian squad at the inaugural WT20 and the next 50 over World Cup which took place in India. His performance in both these tournaments was crucial for the Indian team to win the cup.
