After receiving his maiden India call-up for the forthcoming bilateral T20I series against Ireland, batsman Rahul Tripathi expressed his excitement, stating, “very happy” that the selectors saw his potential and given him an opportunity. All-rounder Hardik Pandya will lead the 17-member side, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar appointed as vice-captain.
“It is a very big opportunity, a dream come true moment and I appreciate. I am very happy that the selectors and everybody believed in me and whatever hard work I have put in, I have got the rewards. And hopefully, if I get an opportunity to play, I will try and give my best,” Rahul Tripathi told PTI.
Over the course of six seasons, the 31-year-old right-handed batsman Tripathi has always been one of most reliable uncapped IPL players, with his finest season in 2022, when he totaled 413 runs at a strike rate of 158.24 for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Tripathi has 2,540 first-class runs from 47 matches for the renowned Deccan Gymkhana club, which is one of Pune’s oldest. In domestic cricket, he has also led Maharashtra.
