
On Wednesday, Ireland won the toss and decided to field first at the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad. Angkrish Raguwanshi and Harnoor Singh started the innings for India. Angkrish and Harnoor showed sheer brilliance by scoring 79 runs off 79 balls(including ten fours and two sixes) and 85* off 101 balls (smashing 12 boundaries), respectively, to take India’s opening stand 164 runs in 25 overs. Jamie Forbes took the crucial wicket of Angkirsh for Ireland in the 26th over, breaking the 164 runs partnership between the openers.
Raj Bawa came in to bat at one down and played a sturdy inning of 42 runs in 64 balls, supporting Harnoor on the other end. Harnoor lost his wicket on the 35th over at the score of 88, missing his century by just 12 runs. Nishant Sindhu (36 off 34) and Rajvardhan Hangargekar (39 off 17, smashing five sixes) played a dominating inning, in the end, to take India’s score to 307/5. Muzamil Sherzad took three wickets for Ireland, Matthew Humphreys and Jamie Forbes took one wicket each, respectively.
Ireland, when came out to bat, was looking uncomfortable from the first over. Ireland was losing wickets in a short duration with no batters putting on a partnership. Scott Macbeth came in to bat at five and was the highest scorer for Ireland with 32 runs.
India bowled out Ireland at a score of 133 in 39 overs, winning the game by 174 runs and qualifying for the Super League Stage.
