U-19 World Cup: Indian squad fit to play against Asian rivals Bangladesh in quarter-finals

Indian squad comes at full strength after the COVID-19 spread.

Six players of India U-19 including captain Yash Dhull and deputy Sheikh Rasheed suffered from the COVID-19 virus and were asked to isolate themselves. Indian team struggled for a perfect team XI but were able to perform stunningly despite the intense COVID-19 disturbance in the management and dressing room.

The players have recovered and are fit to be available for the Quarter Final game against Asian rival Bangladesh on January 29.

BCCI reported to TOI that all the players have recovered and will be available for the selection ahead of the Quarter Final game.

The six players who were isolated due to COVID-19, missed out on two games, against Ireland and Uganda. The six players were captain Yash Dhull, Rasheed, Aaradhya Yadav, Vasu Vats, Manav Parakh, and Siddharth Yadav who were infected by the virus. India played the two games with a very less number of players, not giving them opportunities to change or get a substitute. India won both the matches with a great margin. Ireland to India lost by 174 runs while India scored an unbelievable score of 405 runs against Uganda, and bowled team Uganda within 79 runs.

BCCI in accordance, sent four backup players to West Indies for the U-19 World Cup as the team was infected from the COVID-19 breakout. Abhishek Porel, Uday Saharan, Rishith Reddy and Ansh Gosai were sent as the backup players. As per the reports of TOI, BCCI will be sending in their strongest side for the quarter-finals.
