After clean sweeping West Indies in ODIs and T20Is by 3-0, the Indian team continued with their emphatic form against Sri Lanka as well. In the recent three-match T20I series against Lankans, India won all of the three matches and clean swept the series so easily. Rohit Sharma’s men dominated against West Indies as well as Sri Lanka and made new records during the series. Apart from this victory, there are some questions arising on the selection of a middle-order batsman named Sanju Samson who is also the captain of the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson’s form is also a topic to talk about as he was been picked in the 11 in all three T20I matches against Sri Lanka. Sanju had a decent performance in this series but the question is whether this performance is enough for the selectors to take him in the team.
Former Pakistan opening batter Salman Butt feels that Sanju Samson’s performance in the Sri Lanka series is not enough and he needs to have some more output to be the regular starter in the team. Salman Butt also thinks that the batter has a lot of talent but needs to score more runs.
“Sanju Samson played some excellent shots but these knocks of 18, 19, 20, and 30 are not enough. He has definitely got a lot of talent but there is a lack of output. He will have to improve his output if he wants to make a claim for a spot in the team,” Salman Butt said on his official YouTube channel.
In these three T20I matches against Sri Lanka, Sanju Samson go past 30 runs only once which also in the second T20I where he scored 39 runs. In the last game, he opened the innings with Rohit Sharma where he got a good start but couldn’t utilize further it as he got out, scoring just 18 runs.
