The Ashes loss forces head coach Chris Silverwood to step down from his post

England head coach Chris Silverwood steps down after the Ashes humiliation.

Head Coach of team England has announced to step down from his position as the Ashes humiliation sets pressure for the head coach as well as the management.

England lost to Australia in the exciting rivalry series Ashes by 4-0 and this humiliating loss has set Chris under pressure which made him step down from the head coach role. Mike Atherton, the former skipper suggested that the loss in Ashes was to be blamed on England management.

Ashley Giles stepped out of his role of managing director. Ashley appointed Silverwood as the head coach and the very next day Silverwood announced his end of the role.

Former England captain Andrew Strauss has replaced the managing director Ashley on an interim basis while a caretaker coach will be appointed for the upcoming series against West Indies in March.

England has been witnessed losing consecutively in the Test format, given the home advantage. New Zealand defeated the hosts in the Test series while India was up 2-1 as the final match was postponed after a COVID outbreak in the Indian team squad.

With the managing director and the head coach stepping out of their roles, England will be struggling for consistent team management which would help lay a base for the players to play with positive momentum. Test skipper Root might also be replaced by Ben Stokes as the Ashes loss has affected team England to call some big changes after the humiliation. All-rounder Ben Stokes is likely to replace Root for the leadership position in the Test format.

The next appointed head coach for team England will be the third coach in just 3-4 years which reveals the weakness in the managing position of the national team as it might give an advantage to other international teams to break down the momentum of the England players as the inconsistency in managing position continues.

The next Test series for team England is against West Indies which will begin in March, supposedly March 8. The three-match Test series will be an opportunity for team England to overcome the Ashes loss. The T20 series against West Indies in January was won by the hosts by 3-2.
