Ishan Kishan completed his half-century during the powerplay in India’s Group A clash against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Sunday.
The left-hander reached his fifty off 27 deliveries, anchoring India’s innings after the early dismissal of Abhishek Sharma. At 6.2 overs, India were 60 for 1, with Kishan unbeaten on 50, striking at 185.19.
Kishan’s innings included seven fours and two sixes as he took the attack to Pakistan’s bowlers during the fielding restrictions. India ended the powerplay at 52 for 1, with Kishan contributing 42 of those runs.
A statistical note from the match confirmed that 42 runs by Ishan Kishan is the most by a batter in the powerplay in India–Pakistan T20 internationals, surpassing the previous mark of 35 by Shubman Gill in Dubai during the Asia Cup 2025.
Tilak Varma was at the other end on 10 as India continued to build momentum after the early setback.
