T20 World Cup 2022: Mohammad Siraj if not Jasprit Bumrah – Shane Watson

Australian veteran star player Shane Watson gives his reason for selecting Siraj if Bumrah isn’t fit to play.

In the last episode of the ICC Review, Australian star Shane Watson revealed his replacement if Bumrah is ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The star Indian pacer is dealing with a concerning back issue which leads to him not participating in the big event. This will be a massive blow to the Indian side but Watson has his choice of a replacement instead. The Aussie star is adamant about selecting Siraj as a perfect replacement for Bumrah.

“The player I would put in if Jasprit’s not available is Mohammad Siraj, because of the firepower he presents. Without Bumrah, that’s the one thing India won’t necessarily have, which is vital on Australian wickets on the bigger grounds with the pace and bounce”, Said Watson

Watson was very much impressed with the kind of performance Siraj showed on Australian pitches during the Tests against Australia. He also mentioned how good Siraj is with the new ball and his improving IPL performances, he can play a vital part in the tournament.

“Siraj is great with the brand new ball. He is fast, he swings the ball away but also his defensive skills are pretty good. And he’s got better over the last couple of years, with what we’ve seen in the IPL. Honestly, I think it’s going to have a huge impact on India’s chances of winning the T20 World Cup”, Watson confidently concluded.

However, Deepak Chahar and Mohammad Shami are two seamers already on the standby list of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. Still, India is hoping their best to have Bumrah back in action before the main event starts on October 16.

India will start their tournament facing their fav rival Pakistan on 23rd October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia.
