The Sri Lankan team has announced for the two Test matches on the India tour. Some players have returned, while new names have also included in the team. The second T20 match is to be played between India and Sri Lanka on 26 February. After the T20 series, Sri Lanka will also play a two-Test series, but even before these important matches, the visiting team has suffered a major setback. Fine spinner Mahesh Theekshana and dominating batsman Kusal Mendis have out of the team.
Sri Lanka Cricket in an interaction said out that spinner Mahesh Thekshana and batsman Kusal Mendis have ruled out of the ongoing T20 series due to injuries. However, Mendis has included in the 17-man Test squad for the two Tests against India on his timely recovery from injury.
Niroshan Dickwella and Dhananjay de Silva have included in the T20 squad in place of the injured pair. Meanwhile, off-spinner Ramesh Mendis has not been included in the 17-man Test squad due to injury.
This will also be the final international match for the Sri Lankan bowler Suranga Lakmal, who announced his retirement from playing for Sri Lanka in all formats after the conclusion of the series.
