Sreesanth retires from all forms of cricket

S Sreesanth, a fast bowler who played in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, has announced his retirement. On Wednesday, the 39-year-old announced the news on Twitter.

S Sreesanth announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Twitter on Wednesday. In 2007-08, the controversial Kerala speedster, who won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup, was perhaps India’s best bowler, as he had the ability to trouble batters not only with his bowling, but also with his actions. When his name was mentioned in the 2013 IPL incident, his career took a turn for the worst.

The fast-ban bowler’s was lifted in September 2020, bringing an end to a seven-year sentence that had been planned to last a lifetime. Last year, BCCI Ombudsman DK Jain lowered Sreesanth’s life ban for accused spot-fixing in the 2013 edition of the IPL to seven years. Sreesanth, along with his Rajasthan Royals teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, were suspended by the BCCI in August 2013.

However, the 39-year-old cricketer was recently seen playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy after failing to get selected in successive IPL auctions.

“For the next generation of cricketers..I have chosen to end my first class  cricket career. This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honorable action to take at this time in my life. I ve cherished every moment.”

“It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game. With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats ) cricket.” Sreesanth tweeted.
