SMAT: Baroda reach the semi-finals with a last-ball six

Ahmedabad: Vishnu Solanki’s master six in the last ball fired Baroda into the semi-finals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Baroda beats Haryana by 8-wickets to get into the semi-finals on Wednesday at Motera Stadium.

The match was leaned towards Haryana but Solanki steals the show by scoring 14 off the last 3 balls of the match and powering Baroda to chase down the target of 149-runs. Haryana’s skipper Mohit Sharma had paved the way for Haryana’s win but Solanki came out of the box and played an undefined knock. Baroda will now face Tamil Nadu in the second semi-final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament on Friday.

Himanshu Rana’s 49 and Shivam Chauhan’s 35  helped Haryana to get a score of 148/7 in their given quota of 20 overs despite losing their openers for just 9-runs and the last two wickets in the last 5 balls. Rahul Tewatiya, well known for his cameos in the game didn’t perform well and the team winded up with a low score on board. Arun Chaprana smashed some sixes for Haryana and the team reach up to a total of 148.

In response, skipper Kedar Devdhar and Sumit Patel gave a steady start to the team while chasing a total of 149 and scored 33 runs off the first 5 overs. Vishnu Solanki played an unbeatable knock of 71 and also helped his team to get into the semis. Yuzvendra Chahal the bowler from Haryana got only 1 wicket and couldn’t able to turn the results in his team’s favor.
