Shane Watson suggests Australia be loyal during squad selection in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022

Australian Veteran Shane Watson suggests Australia stick Finch as their skipper for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2022. He also suggested Cameron Green play only at the main event and should stay away from any possible injury.

The two-time World Cup winner wants the selection board to be loyal and transparent towards the selection of the T20 World Cup squad.

“Finch is such an incredibly important part of this Australian team being the captain. He has been given the full support of the selectors and coach as well. So for me, everyone’s got their fingers crossed that it’s all able to click for him during this T20 World Cup because, firstly, it is such an important role that he plays in the Powerplay opening the batting and, secondly, as a leader, as the captain making decisions under pressure”, Watson stated in the ICC Review interview

The Australian team has time until October 9 to finalise their squad before the tournament kick starts. Watson is a huge fan of Green and admires his all-around skills and believes he should be preserved from any injury and must be put to full use during the ICC World Cup.

“The only time I think he should be coming into the squad is if someone gets injured or they don’t recover from their injury, Watson noted.

The Australian champ wants the last World Cup’s dominant players to be given the first opportunity to keep the team’s spirit high and perform the same for the team.

“You have to give the players who were so dominant in the last T20 World Cup the first opportunity to be able to play in this T20 World Cup at home”, Watson concluded.
