India’s struggle on the final day of the WTC Final continues as Scott Boland claims two quick wickets in the same over. The left-hander Ravindra Jadeja becomes his second victim. Boland angles the delivery into Jadeja, which then moves away late, enticing the drive. The edge is safely caught by wicketkeeper Carey. With the loss of Jadeja, India’s hopes of salvaging the Test match are fading rapidly.
They have now lost half their side, and the task of saving the game seems increasingly challenging. Earlier in the over, Boland had dismissed Virat Kohli, who fell agonizingly close to his half-century.
The ball flew to the right of second slip where Steve Smith showcased his exceptional fielding skills. With very little reaction time, Smith dived to his right and took a sensational catch, leaving the Indian team and fans stunned.
Kohli had looked good during his innings, but his dismissal proved to be a significant blow for India in the Test match. He departed for 49 runs, having hit seven boundaries.
Earlier in the over, there was a review taken by the Australian team as Marnus Labuschagne at cover thought he heard something when the ball passed Kohli’s bat. However, the review showed a clear gap between bat and ball, and Australia lost their review.
Kohli’s dismissal marked a crucial moment in the match, shifting the momentum in Australia’s favor.
