Sajid Khan shines as Pakistan whitewashes Bangladesh in their own backyard

Pakistan have won the test series against Bangladesh by 2-0 after beating the hosts in the 2nd test by an innings and 8 runs.

After a heavy 3-day rain show in Shere-e-Bangla Stadium, Pakistan bowlers took 13 wickets on a dramatic last day to win the 2nd and final test against Bangladesh by an innings and 8 runs to sweep the series by 2-0 on Wednesday.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first and declared their 1st innings on 300/4 in all weather-interrupted match which managed to provide the result in just 215 overs.

Pakistan, led by the off spinner Sajid Khan, sprinkled the panic among the Bangladesh batsmen and kept them on backfoot as the hosts finished on 76/7 on Tuesday. Pakistan then quickly rattled through the remaining wickets and bowled Bangladesh out for just 87 and enforced a follow-on.

The hosts even couldn’t hold their 2nd innings and were all-out for 205 with an improved batting effort comparatively but didn’t managed to deny the heavy defeat.

Sajid, who picked 8 wickets in the 1st innings and 4 in the 2nd innings, finished with career best figures of 12/128 and was awarded the Player of the match award for his fine performance.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam in between took his maiden test wicket to dismiss Mehidy Hasan and was also the highest run getter for his side.

Babar Azam praised the ground staff for their commendable effort to prepare the ground for the match after multiple rain interruptions.

Abid Ali, the centurion of the 1st test was adjudged as Player of the series. Pakistan won the 1st test at Chattogram by 8 wickets and now have strengthened the 2nd position in the ICC World Test Championship points table. Bangladesh on the other hand has continued their poor run in the Test format as they are at the bottom of the table.
