For both the T20I and ODI series against England, Rohit Sharma will serve as captain yet again.
After contracting Covid-19, Rohit has been placed on a medical hold and will not play in the fifth Test against England. Jasprit Bumrah has been appointed captain in Rohit’s absence.
Rohit participated in the tour match against Leicestershire and scored 25 runs in the first innings, but he has since been left isolated. Prior to the senior players’ return for the second match forward, India has chosen to field a squad for the first T20I that is similar to the one that played against Ireland.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has chosen two different squads for the three 20-over matches in consideration of the limited period of time between the conclusion of the fifth Test and the beginning of the T20I series.
There would be no rest for Virat Kohli because the BCCI selectors included him in both squads.
India’s squad for 1st T20I: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik.
India’s squad for 2nd and 3rd T20I: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik.
