Australian Hall of Famer, Shane Warne died at the age of 52 after a ‘suspected heart attack,’ according to a statement issued by his management business on Friday. According to Fox Sports, Warne’s management issued a brief statement in the early hours of Saturday stating that he died of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand. Fox Sports reported that Shane was discovered lifeless in his villa and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was unable to be revived.
Here are a few of the records held by the Spin King:
Most wickets in a calendar year (Test)
The Australian Hall of Famer took 96 wickets in 2005, a record that seems impossible to be touched. Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan who took 90 wickets the following year, is the only cricketer who seemed to get near this record. No cricketer has touched the 90 wicket mark in the last decade.
First cricketer to take 700 wickets
On December 26, 2006, Shane Warne became the first cricketer to claim 700 wickets in Test cricket.
He achieved this milestone in his 144th match at Melbourne against England. Muttiah Muralitharan is the only other bowler to take 700 wickets in test cricket. Additionally, Muttiah later surpassed Shane Warne in claiming the most wickets in Test cricket.

Most consecutive 4 wickets in an innings (ODI)
Shane Warne holds a record of taking 4 wickets in an innings in three consecutive ODI matches. Warne holds this record with 10 other cricketers, including the Waqar Younis.
Most runs in a career without a hundred in Test cricket
God of Spin, Shane Warne, was also known for his good knocks with the bat. Warne scored 3154 runs in 199 innings in his Test career with an average of 17.32. He scored fifties on many occasions but could never convert it into a century. Warne’s highest score in Test cricket is 99, showing his misfortune.
Most runs in a career all formats combined without a hundred
Warne scored 4172 across all formats of the game but could never convert it into three figures. Warne has also been dismissed 44 times for a duck, the ninth most in cricket’s history for a player.
Second most 10 wickets haul in a Test match
Shane Warne took 10 ten-wicket hauls in his career. Muttiah Muralitharan, with 22 wickets, holds the record. Ashwin has so far taken 7 ten-wicket hauls and looks like the only bowler to break Warne’s record.
Second on the list for most victims stumped
Eighty-six of Warne’s wickets came through stumpings over his 15-year career. Only Muttiah exceeded him with 104. He has 36 wickets by stumpings in Tests, which is also the second-most in the format.

Most fifers and ten-for for Australia
With so many international wickets under his belt, it’s no wonder that Warne also holds the Australian record for most fifers and ten-fors in the game. He has 38 fifers to his name, the second-most in the globe, after having 37 in Tests and one in ODIs. He has ten ten-fors, which is the second-most in history.
