Ravichandran Ashwin, an allrounder for India, reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 and has not arrived to England for the upcoming Edgbaston Test, which is set to take place from July 1 to 5.

Ashwin is now quarantined and will only be allowed to rejoin the squad if all protocol requirements have been met. On June 16, the rest of the Indian team flew to England.

“Ashwin hasn’t travelled with the squad to UK as he has tested positive for Covid-19 before departure. But we are hopeful that he will recover well in time before the Test match starts on July 1. However he might miss the practice game against Leicestershire,” BCCI source told PTI.

The rest of the team has arrived in Leicester and has begun training with bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

After ending their T20 tour of South Africa, Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer have arrived in London and will fly to Leicester on Tuesday.
