PSL: Lahore Qalandars is winner of Pakistan Super League 2022

Pakistan’s veteran Mohammad Hafeez was the hero of the match for his all-round performance.

The final began with Lahore Qalandars winning the toss and opting to bat first. Asif Afridi gave a tough time to the openers and got the crucial wicket of Fakhar Zaman in the second over. Lahore’s top order failed with Asif dominating from the front with support from David Willey. Lahore was batting at 25-3, and it seemed difficult for the team to reach the respectable mark of 150 runs.

The warrior innings of Mohammad Hafeez brought Lahore back into the game. Hafeez scored 69 runs in 46 balls, including nine boundaries and a six. Harry Brook played the role of a perfect finisher with his innings of 41 runs in 22 balls. Brooks’s innings included two fours and three massive sixes, which were a treat to watch for the spectators. The duo took Lahore’s score to a fighting total of 180/5.

Multan Sultans looked impressive at the start before Mohammad Hafeez got the critical run out of Multan’s Captain Mohammad Rizwan. Multan couldn’t gain momentum after Captain’s wicket and lost wickets in a series of orders. Tim David and Khushdil Shah tried to build a partnership before Pakistan’s favorite Shaheen Afridi got the wicket of David. Shaheen Afridi bowled an outstanding spell of 30 for 3 to bowl out Multans for 138 runs. Hafeez also took two wickets by just giving away 23 runs in four overs.

Lahore Qalandars win their maiden PSL title, with Mohammad Hafeez named as man of the match for his heroic performance. Mohammad Rizwan of Multan Sultans was awarded as the player of the series for his consistently excellent performances.
