Shaheen Afridi was at his best, delivering blows after blows to the West Indies batting line-up. He took 6 wickets for 51 runs. This has allowed Pakistan to be in the driver’s seat to win the Test match and level the series at 1-1. Babar Azam made a bold declaration at Pakistan’s score being 176-6, as they set up a target of 329 for the West Indies to chase in the 130 overs left in the match.
Opener Kieran Powell was run out first, at 23 but Kraigg Braithwaite carried them to stumps with the score at 49-1 with his score at 17*.
West Indies were already reeling at 39-3. Shaheen, who took two wickets out of three, pre- stumps in the 3rd day, dismissed nightwatchman, Alzarri Joseph. West Indies soon ended up at 105-6, with Mohammad Abbas breaking the partnership of Nkrumah Bonner and Jermaine Blackwood. Bonner was dismissed and shortly after Kyle Mayers was too, both by Abbas.
Afridi removed Blackwood at 33 with them being at 109-7. Holder made 26 in an hour but was dismissed by Shaheen, as the latter took his fifth wicket. Shadab ended the innings by dismissing Kumar Roach with West Indies being all out at 150. Afridi has taken 14 wickets in total in this series. He took an eight-wicket haul in the last test.
Pakistan was looking for an early declaration, as they got one when they were at 176-6, with the highest scorers being Imran Butt at 37, Babar at 33. Joseph took 2 for 22 and Holder took 2 for 27.
Will the West Indies win or will Pakistan level the series? We will have to wait and see.
