New Zealand names Tom Latham as captain for upcoming T20I series against SL and Pakistan

For New Zealand’s two T20I games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Tom Latham has been appointed captain. On April 2, April 5, and April 8, New Zealand will welcome Sri Lanka for three Twenty20 Internationals before departing the following day for Pakistan for five games from April 14 to 24. New Zealand has selected a 13-man team for the matches against Sri Lanka and a 15-man team for the visit of Pakistan.

“We saw against India earlier this season the power and range of shots that Tom possesses,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said. “His adaptability also means he can feature in a range of batting positions. He led an inexperienced T20 squad to Bangladesh in 2021 and we were really impressed with his leadership of that group during a COVID bubble tour.”
