Several Indian sports stars have come forward to do their bit in helping the country fight the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought normal lives to a grinding halt. Even as lockdown restrictions are easing, migrant workers have been worst hit across the country. Not just their livelihoods, several of them lost their lives while trying to get back to their hometowns from major cities.

Earlier, Mohammed Shami had narrated an incident in which he had seen a migrant labourer fainting in hunger outside his residence through CCTV visuals. Shami said he immediately rushed out of his house to feed the worker who was on his way to Bihar from Rajasthan via Lucknow.

“I am trying to help as much as I can. There are migrant workers here who are really struggling to meet ends. The highway is also near my house so I can see people having a tough time. I feel I should help and I am doing as much as possible,” Shami had said.
