KXIP ended their tournament at the sixth position on the points table at this year’s IPL. Punjab had a pretty different IPL as they won only 1 out of first 7 matches, but then turned their tournament around by winning next five matches in a row and then again losing next two matches which led them to be out of the tournament. As their tournament ended, experts started analyzing the team’s weak spots .
Aakash Chopra who is a cricketer turned commentator/analyst has gave out his opinion ahead of next IPL season. He mentioned Aussie all rounder Glenn Maxwell to be dropped ahead of the next auction as he carries big price to his name and has not at all lived to his expectations. In 13 matches, Maxwell has scored only 108 runs with highest score of 32 averaging only 15.42 at a strike rate of 101.88. He also bowled a few times this season taking 3 wickets in the entire tournament.
Chopra also added few more names to this list which included likes of West Indian pacer Sheldon Cottrell who according to Chopra didn’t get enough chances and added Kiwi All Rounder James Neesham along with English Pacer Chris Jordan to the list. Chopra has suggested that KXIP should drop Maxwell, Cottrell and pacer Hardus Viljoen from the team ahead of the auction.
Aakash Chopra has also said that KXIP should keep Chris Gayle in the team as he is the X- FACTOR of the team. Chopra thinks that dropping these few names from the team will get them more amount going into the auction and buying more openly.
