
Irfan Pathan has proposed a farewell match to be played between the current National Team players and those who recently retired from the International Cricket.
A charity cum farewell match is what the former Indian Pacer proposed, this comes on the back of growing calls for arranging a farewell match amongst the retired players, Pathan also released his retired X1 including the likes of Guatam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Yuraj Singh, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Zhaeer Khan and Pragyan Ojha. “Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team,” Pathan tweeted.
Earlier Irfan Pathan had asked the BCCI to allow players to feature in the T20 Foreign Legaues, He said BCCI can give a nod to players who they think are not apt for the National side and let them play abroad, Pathan announced his retirement from all formats of the game in January this year.
Pathan played a crucial role in T20 World cup against Pakistan in 2007, he picked up three wickets and only gave 16 runs in 4 over thus awarded by Man of the match, Pathan is one of the three bowlers to have a Hat-trick to his name for India and is first in the world to claim it in the very first over of the match.
The ever present pacer for team India has featured in 29 Tests, 120 ODIs and 24 T20Is for India bagging 301 wickets in all formats of the game, he also has 11 half centuries to his name. He last played a match for India against Sri Lanka in 2012.
