TATA IPL 2022: Virat Kohli continues to struggle for consistency; marks another low strike rate in T20

Kohli has frequently been out of pace with the bat this season, aside from a half-century against Gujarat Titans and an useful 48-run knock against Mumbai Indians earlier in the tournament.

Virat Kohli, the former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, continues to struggle with his consistency in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He had a strike rate of just 90.90 before being dismissed for 30 runs off 33 balls in the 49th match of the IPL 2022 against Chennai Super Kings.

Kohli’s previous lowest strike rate in a T20 innings was when he played against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011, when he scored 27 runs in 33 balls with an 81.81 strike rate. When he played against Kings XI Punjab again in 2011, he had another lowest strike rate of 87.09 and scored 27 in 37 balls.

Kohli has frequently been out of pace with the bat this season, aside from a half-century against Gujarat Titans and an useful 48-run knock against Mumbai Indians earlier in the tournament.

In the fifteenth season of the league, the right-handed batter has managed to score 186 runs in ten matches for a below-par average of 20.67.

Kohli was selected full-time captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 and led the team until the IPL 2021. He guided them through 140 games, winning 66 and losing up to 70. Kohli had stated before even being retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction that he would always be an RCB player.
