The new edition to the galaxy of nights was star batter, Shreyas Iyer and now he has been named as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders for the Upcoming TATA IPL season 2022. Following the footsteps of Sourav Ganguly, Brendon McCullum, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, and former captain Eoin Morgan.

The former Delhi Capital skipper Shreyas Iyer went under the hammer in the TATA IPL mega auction in Bengaluru on the first day of the auction.
The Indian batter was one out of the 10 marquee players available in the TATA IPL mega auction. KKR went on a shopping spree after they added Australian pacer Pat Cummins to their bowling artillery, for 7.25 crores, and then targetted the former Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer Which cost them 12.25 crores from their purse at the IPL mega auction
Iyer is an extraordinary batsman in the middle order and a good pick for KKR who were in a search for their skipper for the upcoming IPL season and now will not be worried about the captaincy role. Shreyas has shown the caliber he has while his time in the Delhi Capitals side, where he managed to take the team to the finals of the 2020 IPL season.
Shreyas Iyer has 2375 runs in his IPL career with the best score of 96 runs, averaging 31.66 runs and with a good strike rate of 123.95 in the 87 matches he has played.
