Hardik Pandya was known for his match-winning knocks alongside Caribbean great Kieron Pollard during his stint at MI. Before Pandya left the squad to become GT’s captain, both players were known to be good buddies in the MI locker room. Meanwhile, Pandya expressed his wish for Pollard to join his team in a recent video published by GT.
“I wish Polly (Pollard) to have the best day for him, but we win. I kind of messaged him few days as well that hope you’re okay and hope you’re doing well. I said we kind of miss you here. In a joking way, I said ‘You never know, you might come to us next year!’ It’s my wish but I know it’s never going to happen,” said Hardik in a video posted by Gujarat Titans.
Pandya won the IPL title four times with MI and in the video, he also recalled one of the best innings he played for the Mumbai-based team. “My cap in 2015, it was very important for me. Those two man of the matches were important as the last seven games, for us it was a knockout. I kind of got my first glimpse of success and fame in that game where I scored some three sixes. I think we needed two overs, 32 or something, and we won with three-four balls to spare”.
Pollard, on the other hand, has been off-color this season. With his highest score of just 25, the Windies power-hitter has only tallied 129 runs from ten matches, averaging 14.33 and a strike rate of 109.32. The big man has also failed to make an impact in the wickets department, with only three scalps to his record. He’ll be hoping to make apologies in the remaining games as MI looks to complete the season on a high note with a few more victories.
