TATA IPL 2022: Andrew Tye enters into LSG’s squad as a replacement for injured Mark Wood

Andrew Tye has been signed by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a replacement for injured England pacer Mark Wood in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Andrew Tye has been contracted by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to replace Mark Wood, who has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League until 2022 due to an elbow injury. Wood sustained the injury earlier this month during England’s opening Test against the West Indies.

Tye has played in 32 T20Is for Australia, taking 47 wickets. The right-arm bowler will join LSG for Rs 1 crore after playing 27 IPL matches and picking up 40 wickets.

Tye was awarded the Purple Cap for most wickets throughout the 2018 season. In 14 games for Punjab Kings, the fast bowler took 24 wickets. Tye has represented Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), and the Gujarat Lions, all of which are now defunct. Tye’s sixth IPL franchise will be LSG.

In IPL 2022, LSG will be headed by KL Rahul, who has transferred from Punjab to captain one of the two new teams. Avesh Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Ankit Rajpoot, together with Tye, provide a strong fast bowling line for LSG. Shahbaz Nadeem, Bishnoi, Hooda, and Krunal will lead their spin bowling department. They’ve also acquired Karn Sharma, a leg-spinner.

LSG, who will be making their IPL debut this season, will kick off their IPL 2022 campaign on March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium against Gujarat Titans.
