Sunrisers Hyderabad defeat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs to win their first match of IPL 2020. This is SRH’s first victory having already lost their first 2 games in IPL 2020. This win will be a huge relief for SRH fans having seen their team being outplayed before today’s match.
DC won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. SRH had a solid 77 run partnership which saw Jonny Bairstow score his 4th fifty in IPL. Kane Williamson, who was playing his first match for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020, managed to score 41 runs in 26 balls smashing 5 boundaries. He showed the intent which was so badly missing in SRH’s middle order. 18 year old Adbul Samad made his SRH debut managing 12 runs.
SRH set a target of 163 for DC which was quite chaseable considering DC’s form with the bat.
SRH’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck in the first over of the chase as he was successful to take Delhi Capital opener Prithvi Shaw’s wicket.

However, SRH’s spinner Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers as his figures read 4-0-14-3. None of Delhi capitals batsmen show any intent as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals which saw them lose the run chase.
SRH are finally out there doing what they do the best – claw their way to 160 with the bat and then spin the web in the middle overs before some extreme death bowling on a slow, sticky surface. This has been their success mantra for a long time now and they finally brought their A game to the table today.
Rashid Khan was deservingly the man of the match for his spin webs that trapped the DC batsmen.
