Australia in recent years has become the favorite backyard for Indian cricketers to create history. Every time they tour Australia, it feels as if records are bound to be made and broken. It all started in 2018/19 when India’s men’s team won the test series, then it was repeated in 2020/21, by breaching the fortress of GABA after 24 years. However, this time it was the Women’s team’s turn to mark their appearance in the Australian backyard.

Playing in their first-ever day-night Test, Smriti Mandhana made her maiden test century. Coming on to the crease after her overnight score of 80 runs, she looked a little tentative. With tricky conditions, she took her time and once her eyes were set, she repeated her act from the other day to take on the Australian bowlers, to score a fabulous century in the 52nd over of the match by Pulling a ball by Perry to the square leg region. Mandhana scored 93 runs and 102 runs partnerships with Verma and Raut respectively before getting out at the score of 127 runs from 216 balls.
