MS Dhoni’s text convinced CSK CEO for a 5 day camp in Chennai amid pandemic

The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin on September 19th in UAE. All the teams have reached the country and are starting to train after a mandatory quarantine put in place by the authorities. Unlike other teams, Chennai Super Kings attended a five-day camp in Chennai prior to flying to UAE. It was a brave decision by the CEO of the franchise to organise this camp amid pandemic.

In a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Chennai Super Kings, CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed how CSK captain MS Dhoni convinced him to go ahead with the camp. He also mentioned that he had his reservation about the camp and thus also messaged Dhoni asking about his thoughts on it. MS Dhoni was pretty clear that they needed the camp as they hadn’t got on the field for over 5 months. MS Dhoni also mentioned that they needed to be in a bio-bubble in Chennai so that they are used to it when they land in UAE.

CSK players including MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, Deepak Chahar, Ambati Rayudu, Shardul Thakur were present at the 5 day camp in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh couldn’t make it to the camp due to personal commitments. The franchise had their reservations around the camp but they are glad that they were able to pull it off because of the skipper’s confidence. The side had a 5 day time to get back into the mix of playing as a team and have gotten back into shape to be able to train in UAE ahead of the tournament.
