Is Pat Cummins, the most expensive buy for Kolkata Knight Riders, the winning deal for the team?

Pat Cummins has become the most expensive overseas player overbought in the history of the IPL after being picked by KKR for a whopping 15.5 Crores.

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins is the most expensive overseas player in the 13th edition o the IPL. He was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders at a bid of Rs 15.50 Crores. He is the most expensive buy for the team in golden and Purple. KKR has won two IPL trophies under their former captain Gautam Gambhir but have had no luck in the past 2 years. While Cummins is one of the best bowlers in the world at the moment, is he the winning deal for the team?

Cummins was bought by KKR in 2014 and later in 2017 he was picked by Delhi Daredevils for 4.5 Crores. In 2018 he played for the Mumbai Indians at a price of Rs 5.4 Crores. Due to an injury he was not a part of the 2019 IPL but now he is back with KKR as their star bowler. He also made a record by being the most expensive oversea player in the history of the league.

The quickie form Australia is the no.1 ranked bowler in test cricket in the world for his exemplary performance with the ball in red-ball cricket. He was also awarded the vice-captaincy along with Travis Head in 2019. In 2020 he was made the sole vice-captain of the side after Alex Carey was dismissed from the position.

With numerous records with the ball, Kolkata Knight Riders will be expecting the same kind of results from the bowler for their side as well. Even with Andre Rusell on their side they have missed having a strong bowling squad and Cummins addition should do them some good.
