IPL Auction 2022: KKR take home Shreyas Iyer for 12.25 crores

KKR sign the former Delhi Capitals player Shreyas Iyer in the TATA IPL mega auction

The former Delhi Capital player Shreyas Iyer went under the hammer in the TATA IPL mega auction in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The Indian batsmen was one out of the 10 marquee players available in the IPL mega auction. KKR went on a shopping spree after they bought their Australian pacer Pat Cummins, for 7.25 crores and then targetted the former Delhi Capitals player Shreyas Iyer Which cost them 12.25 crores from their kitty.

Iyer is an extraordinary player and a good pick for KKR who were in a search for their skipper for the upcoming IPL season and now will not be worried about the captaincy role. The player has shown his leadership skills in the Delhi Capitals camp, where he managed to take the side to the finals of the 2020 IPL edition. Shreyas Iyer has 2375 runs in his IPL career with a best of 96 runs, averaging 31.66 runs and with a healthy strike rate of 123.95 in the 87 matches he has played.

KKR now has 28.5 crores remaining in their purse to complete their squads for the upcoming 2022 IPL season.
