Indian All-rounder, Abdul Samad who represents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL feels relieved after being retained by the franchise for the upcoming IPL 2022.
Samad in an interview with Revsportz said, “It’s an honour for me to be retained by the franchise along with two other players”. He feels relieved after being retained and hopes that the SRH franchise would make a strong team ahead in the mega auction.
The 20-year-old shares his experience with the franchise since he joined in 2019. He said that SRH is like a home for him and the entire staff including the coaches like VVS Laxman and Muttiah Muralitharan supported him a lot. He also feels very fortunate to share his dressing room with great players like David Warner and Kane Williamson.
Samad believes that he learned a lot from David, Kane, and coach Laxman as well. The most important thing he learns from them is how to stay calm in nervous situations. Samad also credits Former Indian cricket, Irfan Pathan for his success. He believes that today wherever he is, it’s all because of the guidance of Irfan Pathan.
Irfan saw Samad batting in U-19, and then, later on, called him. Irfan was impressed by Samad’s shots and motivated him that if he plays like this then one day he will play for the country as well. Samad believes that Irafan’s motivation helped him to improve his performance.
When asked Samad where he gets the inspiration to hit the big sixes, he replied when he used to open for the junior team, he adored Rohit Sharma’s straight shot a lot. Later on, when Samad started batting in the middle order, he admired finishers like MS Dhoni, Hardik Pandya, and Andre Russel as well.
Samad said that he enjoys the role of being a finisher and gives his best for the team. But still believes that batting as a finisher in the last 2-3 overs is very tough as it is attacked by the opposite team’s strong bowlers, bowling perfect yorkers.
He used to copy @IamRo45 hitting straight sixes with sheer timing, says @ABDULSAMAD_1 . He also shared the secret of his big hitting and enjoyed watching @msdhoni & @hardikpandya7 .
