Rohit Sharma set to miss games after hamstring injury

Mumbai Indians are likely to be without Rohit Sharma for the next one and a half to two weeks after he picked up a hamstring injury during their loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The injury occurred in the second innings when Rohit was batting. He scored 19 off 13 balls before showing signs of discomfort and walking off the field in the 5.2 over mark. Suryakumar Yadav came in to replace him as the innings continued.

This comes as a setback for Mumbai, who are already trying to recover from an 18-run defeat in that match. Rohit’s absence is expected to rule him out of at least the next two games at home.

Uncertainty over availability for Punjab Kings clash

Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face Punjab Kings on April 16 at the Wankhede Stadium, but Rohit’s availability for that match remains unclear.

The team management is likely to take a cautious approach given the nature of the injury. Hamstring issues often require careful recovery, and rushing him back could risk a longer absence.

Rohit’s role at the top of the order remains key, both for stability and experience. His absence will put more responsibility on the rest of the batting unit, especially in the powerplay.

With the season still in its early phase, Mumbai will hope the injury is not serious. For now, the focus will be on recovery, with a clearer timeline expected once further assessment is completed.
