Punjab Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs after another high-scoring IPL match that exposed LSG’s bowling and middle-order issues. PBKS posted 254 for 7 and then kept LSG under pressure to restrict them to 200 for 5 in 20 overs.

Arya and Connolly power Punjab Kings to massive total

Punjab Kings’ innings was built around Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who took the game away in the middle overs. Arya was the standout, making 93 off 37 balls with 4 fours and 9 sixes. One of his cleanest strikes came straight down the ground off Mohammed Shami, setting the tone early.

Connolly matched him with 87 off 46 balls, hitting 8 fours and 7 sixes. Once settled, he targeted both spin and pace, especially through the cover and mid-wicket areas. Together, they added 182 runs for the second wicket and completely broke LSG’s plans.

Even after Prabhsimran Singh fell early, PBKS did not slow down. The innings had one major turning point when Aiden Markram’s over went for 32 runs, with both Arya and Connolly clearing the boundary repeatedly. Punjab reached 193 for 3 in 15.1 overs and never looked back.

LSG chase starts well but collapses under pressure

LSG began with a new opening pair of Ayush Badoni and Mitchell Marsh. They put on 61 in the powerplay, with Marsh scoring 40 off 28 and Badoni 35 off 21. It was a positive start, but the chase quickly drifted once wickets fell.

Rishabh Pant tried to keep them alive with 43 off 23 balls and Aiden Markram added 42 off 22, but both were forced into risky shots as the required rate climbed. Nicholas Pooran once again failed, scoring just 9, leaving LSG short in the middle order.

Punjab’s bowlers kept taking key wickets at regular intervals. Vijaykumar Vyshak removed Badoni, Yuzvendra Chahal broke the Marsh-Pant stand, and Arshdeep Singh struck at important moments to keep control of the chase.

Records, dominance and what next

The match featured a heavy flow of sixes from Punjab Kings, with Arya hitting 9 and Connolly adding 7, as the team crossed 250 with ease. The batting depth and intent have now become a clear strength.

With this win, Punjab Kings remain at the top of the table and are still unbeaten in the tournament. Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, sit in 8th place with just two wins, and their inconsistency with both bat and ball is becoming a concern.

For PBKS, the question now is how long they can keep this momentum going. For LSG, it is more urgent  whether their current batting structure is stable enough to recover before the season slips away.
