Siraj’s effort keeps him in the game, but a key moment slips away
Rajasthan Royals pushed past 170, with Dhruv Jurel leading the charge, but much of the late drama centred on Mohammed Siraj’s work in the deep. His effort levels stood out in the final overs, even as Gujarat Titans struggled to hold control.
The decisive moment came in the 16th over. Jurel miscued a shot off Kagiso Rabada towards long-on. Siraj judged it well, took the catch, and then, under momentum, threw the ball up to stay inside the rope and attempt a second take. The ball, however, crossed the boundary. It was a clear chance that went begging.
Missed chance proves costly as RR finish strong
The over also saw a mix of errors and intent. A bouncer down the leg side was called wide as Jurel failed to reach the ramp shot. Shortly after, the batter struck a six in the same over, continuing Rajasthan’s strong finish.
Jurel’s innings carried on after that reprieve. He reached his fifty and kept the tempo high, while Ravindra Jadeja, back in a Rajasthan shirt, began to settle in at the other end.
For Gujarat Titans, the fielding effort had moments of control, but they could not convert key chances. Siraj’s involvement highlighted the intensity, yet the missed opportunity at long-on added to their frustration as Rajasthan kept adding runs in the final phase.
