Ravi Bishnoi turned the match on its head with a sharp spell, removing Sai Sudharsan at a crucial stage and putting Rajasthan Royals back in control of the contest. Gujarat Titans, who were cruising in the chase, suddenly found themselves under pressure.
Bishnoi strikes twice to break the chase
Sudharsan was leading the response with a composed 73 off 44 balls. He had built a strong platform with clean hitting and had kept GT ahead of the required rate. At 127 for 2 in 12 overs, the chase was well on track.
Bishnoi, introduced after the powerplay, changed the game in his first over. He first dismissed Glenn Phillips with a googly that was miscued to long-on, before returning to remove Sudharsan. The batter attempted to pull a short, spinning delivery but only managed a top edge, which was safely taken at long leg.
The double strike in the same over halted GT’s momentum. Sudharsan’s wicket, in particular, was the turning point, given how well he had controlled the innings. His departure left GT needing 80 from 45 balls, with the required rate climbing and the middle order under pressure.
RR regain control after Sudharsan’s dismissal
Jos Buttler remained at the crease, but with wickets falling at regular intervals, the chase is no longer straightforward. Bishnoi finished his spell with three wickets, having broken key partnerships and applied constant pressure.
Rajasthan Royals, who posted 210 for 6, will feel the game is back in their favour after Sudharsan’s dismissal. Gujarat Titans now face a tougher task, with the chase finely balanced and momentum shifting.
