IPL 2025: PBKS defend lowest total in IPL history as KKR collapse

In a sensational low-scoring thriller at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) stunned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 16 runs, defending the lowest total ever in IPL history — just 111 runs.

KKR, chasing 112, collapsed spectacularly to be bowled out for 95 in 15.1 overs despite a late fight from Andre Russell. PBKS’ bowlers turned the game on its head with relentless pressure after the powerplay.

The final wicket:
Marco Jansen bowled a short-of-length delivery wide outside off. Russell, who had earlier smashed two sixes in an over, attempted another big hit. However, a thick inside edge crashed into the stumps, silencing the KKR dugout and igniting chaos in the stands. Russell departed for 17(11), and Preity Zinta’s jubilation told the story of an unforgettable heist.

Russell’s effort not enough
Earlier, Russell hammered 17 off 11 balls, including two sixes off Yuzvendra Chahal in the 14th over, briefly threatening to snatch the game. But his dismissal ended KKR’s hopes.
