IPL 2024: No more MS Dhoni vs Virat Kohli in group stage; Mumbai Indians to play GT twice

In the group stage of IPL 2024, all cricket lovers are most likely to miss the much-awaited match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore for the second time, after the former won against the latter in the season opener.

Consequently, both sides are allocated to Group B, and the existing structures suggest that they would not encounter one another till the playoffs.

In the IPL 2024 format, the ten teams are divided into two groups five each. As a result, Group A is formed by Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants, whereas Group B includes Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.

Every team will compete once against the other four in their grouping and twice against five opponents from the alternate grouping . This format allows for a total of 14 matches for each team.

Therefore, cricket fans can anticipate that although they will have to miss the match between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, they will witness the Gujarat Titans face Mumbai Indians.

The current MI captain Hardik Pandya resigned as the captain of GT after leading the team to successive finals in 2022 and 2023 and won the title in 2022.
