Mitchell Starc is the most expensive player in IPL history. Kolkata Knight Riders have paid a whopping price of Rs 24.75 crore to include the left-arm fast bowler in their team during the auction, but when the name of Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood came in the auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) reacted with something that is now viral on social media.

Josh Hazlewood went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction. Hazlewood, who has an impressive track record of 35 wickets in 27 IPL matches, will be in Australia during March and April for the birth of his child. He has confirmed that he will only be available in May, ending all teams’ interest in him. He could only play three matches in IPL 2023 due to a heel injury.

Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc

Pat Cummins had briefly held the record of being the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League when Sunrisers Hyderabad paid a whopping price of ₹20.5 crore for the Australia captain. But little did Cummins realise that his feat would barely last an hour as he was pipped by none other than his Australia teammate Mitchell Starc as the left-arm pacer went for a whopping Rs 24.75 crore to Kolkata Knight Riders.
