Wanindu Hasaranga of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has gone to the top of the list of most wickets in the current Indian Premier League(IPL) 2022. Hasaranga stood in second place on the corresponding list with 21 wickets. On Friday, the right-arm spinner bowled a brilliant stint against Punjab Kings (PBKS), dismissing two batsmen for 15 runs. With this, he currently shares top place on the purple cap list with Yuzvendra Chahal of the Rajasthan Royals.
He climbed to the top rank with his second wicket and now has 23 wickets. Hasaranga’s 23 scalps include a fifer against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the previous match. The all-rounder was signed for Rs 10.75 crore by the team. Hasaranga made his debut in the league last year after a strong home series against India.
Hasaranga has 136 wickets in 97 T20 matches, with an impressive average of 15.55 and an exceptional economy of 6.64. He can also smash important runs further down the order and is a brilliant fielder; all of these qualities combine to make him a T20 captain’s dream player. Wanindu Hasaranga needed some time to adjust to the league, but he has since shown to be a dangerous foe. In the team’s recent triumph over the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he became the third RCB spinner to grab five wickets.
